Nola Cutler, was born to the late Willis T. And Nola Hinton On June 1st 1930 in Jamaica, New York. Nola was the youngest of three children. She attended P.S. 40 and Woodrow Wilson High School. She enjoyed dancing, had a keen sense of fashion, was the most loving, caring person who gave both herself and her time unconditionally. She was known for her smile, lively personality and unending kindness.

In 1964, Nola married her longtime seeetheart Ruffin Calvin Cutler, from this union came 4 children. Nola’s first job was a sales associate at Ideal Toy Factory, she later joined Long Island Jewish Medical Center as a housekeeper in 1968 and worked for the health system for 27 years. Nola left a lasting impression on everyone that she interacted with. She worked on 8 north until she retired in 1995 and joined the senior center on Jamaica Avenue. She attended the senior center every day and assisted the staff with serving meals and arts and crafts classes.

Known to most as “Aunt Suzie” was the life of every party. Her favorite dances were the Electric Slide, the Mash Potato, and the Susie Q. She loved the Cotton Club where she spent the most of her time dancing the night away. If she wasn’t at the Cotton Club she was at home watching Western Movies.

Nola was preceded in death by her husband Ruffin Calvin Cutler, her sister Mabel Nellie Hinton, her brother Alfred Hinton and her sister-in-law Joan Hinton. She is survived by her four children Sandra Smith, Kevin Cutler, Karen Cutler and Angie Cutler: two daughters-In-law Jasmine Cutler and Yolanda Cutler. She had fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
