With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Nelson Asekiya on September 22, 2025 in Navrongo, Upper East, Ghana. He was born on August 17, 1950 to his parents Aliginbila Asekiya and Alaginbila Abiiba.
Nelson was a loving husband to Asekiya Nchormah Rose, whom he married in 1975. Together, they raised six children: Gloria, Blanda, Kaba, Mandela, Vida, and Mark Aguntinga. He was also a doting grandfather to four grandchildren. Nelson attended Dona Junior High School and graduated in 1966, much to the relief of his teachers. Known for his mischievous antics and infectious laughter, Nelson was a friend to all who knew him. He had a knack for storytelling and could turn any moment into a comedy routine. Despite his advancing years, Nelson never lost his sense of humor or zest for life. He continued to regale his family with jokes and anecdotes, keeping them entertained to the very end. While we mourn his passing, we take solace in knowing that Nelson lived a full and joyous life. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with him, and his laughter will echo in our hearts for years to come.
Rest in peace, dear Nelson. May your jokes continue to bring smiles to all who remember you.
