Nellie FlowersBEAUMONT, TXNellie Flowers, 86, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Monday, October 2, 2017, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene with burial following in Potosi Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 1, at 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the funeral home.Nellie was born on January 24, 1931, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Stella Bell and Lunis Wayne Johnson. Both parents preceded her in death in 1969.She was a homemaker and mother to five, which she enjoyed. Nellie married Marshall R. Flowers on May 4, 1948. She was a loving grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and doted on them. Nellie lived most of her life in Abilene, TX, but moved to Beaumont in May of 2009 where she was in the loving care of her daughter, Joyce, until at which time it became necessary for her to be in Summer Place Nursing Home in Beaumont.Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marshall Flowers; a son, Floyd A. "Bo" Flowers; and a daughter, Valerie Flowers. Also preceding her in death was one sister; two brothers; two grandchildren, Richard "Ritchie" Soto and Michelle James. Survivors include daughters, Birdie Flowers of Abilene, Joyce (James) Allen of Beaumont, and Marsha Martin of Noble, Illinois; grandchildren, Shannon (Stacy) Wallace, Marty (Mike) Anderson, Rachel Connely, Heather (Anthony) Rozzell, Michael (Vickie) Martin, John (Barbara) Martin, Donald (Stacy) Martin, Erik Smith, Cory Smith, and Carrie Franklin.You may view and sign the guestbook at www.elliotthamilfuneralhomes.com
