THORNTONNancy J. Nancy J. Thornton, 82, of Toledo, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community in Toledo, OH. Nancy was born on March 29, 1934, in Toledo to Mary Gozdowski and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952. She married Jim Thornton on August 29, 1953 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2006 after 53 years of marriage.Nancy was very active in the Altar Society and St. Francis Guild and was also co-chairman of the 8th grade Retreats at Little Flower Parish. Nancy was also co-chairman of the Sacristy Committee at St. John's Jesuit High School while her sons attended. Nancy worked part time at Sears, Roebuck & Co. for many years after all her children started school.Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary; husband, Jim; brothers, Eugene Gozdowski, Robert Gozdowski, Thomas Gozdowski and sister, Sylvia (Shasteen-Bailey). She is survived by children, David (Julie Jordan), Kevin, Valerie (John Myers), Mark (Chris Samiec), Paul (Suzanne Creque), Mike (Micki Jobuck) and Connie (Darrel Limes). Nancy was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd. The Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church where friends will be received after 9 a.m. Burial, Resurrection Cemetery.
