Nadell Porter Hoppe Obituary

Feb 18, 1923 - Jan 14, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Mrs. Nadell Porter Hoppe, 93, of Nacogdoches, passed away on November 14, 2016 in Nacogdoches. Mrs. Hoppe was born on February 18, 1923 in Nacogdoches, the daughter of Jim W. and Ila Dee Crisp Porter. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Laird Funeral Home with Dr. Alan Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 10:00 am until service time. Mrs. Hoppe was raised in the Nat Community and graduated from Cushing High School in 1942, where she was a talented volleyball player. In 1944, while working at McClain's Café on East Main Street in Nacogdoches, she met Fred Hoppe, the love of her life, and they spent 55 wonderful years together. After a full life of raising their 2 sons, Fred and Nadell began their many years of traveling adventures in their Airstream travel trailer. They traveled all over the U.S. and Canada. Nadell enjoyed spending time in the yard working in her flower beds and gardens. She was also a very devoted life-long member of First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. Mrs. Hoppe believed that everyone had a calling from God and she was adamant that her calling was to pray for others. She very lovingly spent many hours praying for her family and friends and was devoted to praying for anyone who asked. She thoroughly enjoyed her years of raising her two sons and she was very proud of them. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild were also very special to her. She loved knowing that she was the beginning of the 5 living generations and was able to experience them as they were growing up. In her later years, while she was living at Rock Haven Nursing Home, she learned of her love for Bingo. Her friends there soon discovered she was a "Bingo Meister", always looking forward to the twice weekly bingo sessions. The Hoppe family deeply thanks our special friends Debra, Ester, Jenny, Marilyn, Peaches and Ruthie for their devotion and loving touch given to our Mom for over 8 years. The family also appreciates the care givers at the Rock Haven Nursing Home for their professional support over the past two years. Mrs. Hoppe is survived by her two sons, Frank Hoppe and wife, Sandra, of Nacogdoches and Bill Hoppe and wife, Lou Ann, of Nacogdoches; 5 grandchildren, Greg Hoppe, Jayson Hoppe, Alison Batig, Laura Salame, and Scott Hoppe; and 9 great grandchildren, as well as one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hoppe will be Greg Hoppe, Jayson Hoppe, Scott Hoppe, Gregory Hoppe, Edward Wittel, and Charles Eaves. In lieu of flowers, the Hoppe family requests donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering IMB, Attn: Development P.O. Box 6767 Richmond, VA 23230 or First Baptist Church of Nacogdoches, 411 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.
