On July 6th, 2025, the world lost a beloved member of the Peterborough community. Murray Samons, born on December 27th, 1944, lived a life full of love, laughter, and horse racing.
For 65 years, Murray dedicated himself to his passion as a harness horse driver trainer. He poured his heart and soul into his work, creating a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
Outside of the racetrack, Murray enjoyed spending time with his wife Marion Samons, and their three children, Krista, Darryl, and Carla. Family was always at the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In his free time, Murray could be found surrounded by his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren sharing stories and jokes that would fill the room with joy. His laughter was infectious, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Although Murray may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on in the memories and love he shared with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Murray Samons - you will always be remembered with a smile.
Donations are welcome to Peterborough Hospice in his memory and gratitude for the wonderful care provided.
