Muriel Leone PlushFebruary 12, 1923 - October 15, 2016Muriel Leone Plush, 93, Nampa Idaho died October 15, 2016 at a local care facility.Muriel was born on February 12, 1923 in Java, South Dakota to Hans W. and Helen (Wagy) Nultemeier. She was raised in McIntosh, South Dakota and graduated from McIntosh High School in 1940.Music was part of her life and she played the French Horn in the school band and took enough piano lessons to learn to read music. She also played the Accordion and later the Bass Wash Tub. Her "Paradise Four" band performed for Governor Phil Batt of Idaho. After high school, Muriel cooked in a restaurant and later worked as a nurse's assistant in a clinic. She taught grades 1-8 in a one-room schoolhouse in the country. At a local dance, Muriel met the love of her life and married Willard Plush in 1941. They enjoyed 67 years together. In 1949 the family moved to southeast Kuna, Idaho where they owned and operated a farm for 55 years. She was in Mixmaster's, co-chairman of District 5 Idaho Old Time fiddlers and a lifetime member of Kuna Kave Riding Club. Some of the things she loved were to watch hummingbirds outside her kitchen window, rushing to her door to see wild geese honking as they flew overhead, waiting anxiously in the spring to hear the first meadow larks and robins, sitting for hours by a rivers edge watching and listening to water, and seeing the sight of the elk or deer along a snowy winter road. She said "each of these things is music to my ears; without music the world would be a rather dull place to live".She raised a garden and canned fruits, vegetables, and berries. She was a blue ribbon winner many years with her homemade angel food cake at the Western Idaho State Fair.Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters LaRee Cook and Jane Nultemeier of Florida.Muriel is survived by two sisters, Neila (Lyman) Brown of Wisconsin and Harlene Vest of Illinois; three daughters, June (Robert) Miller of Melba, Id; Donna Woodall of Halfway, OR; Barbara (Jimmy) Daniel of Casa Grande, AZ; three grandchildren, Shannon Grenz, Pamela Reyes, Michael Grenz, and one Great-granddaughter, Miranda.Services will be held on Friday October 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N Cloverdale Road in Boise.
