Ms. Barbara Howerton Kernodle , 79, of Rougemont, North Carolina, passed on March 22, 2022. Ms. Barbara was born on August 26, 1942.

She was a founding member of Open Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Neal Howerton Jr. and wife Shelia; son Richard Kernodle and wife Elizabeth; son Jerry Kernodle; a stepdaughter, Karen Williams; brother, Wayne Edwards; sister, Dorothy Black; 17 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond A. and Viola Stenson Edwards; her first husband, Neal Howerton Sr.; second husband, Garland Kernodle Sr.; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ragan; a son, Jefferey Lynn Howerton; a brother, James Edwards and a sister, Aleen Younger.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday March 25, 2022 at the residence of her niece Tammy Lamm of Burlington.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday March 26, 2022 at Clure Funeral Home in Graham by the Rev. Steve Pruitt and the Rev. Michael Light. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Church cemetery.
