We are saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Billy”BJ” Watts, who was born on December 7, 1960, in Newton, Mississippi to Thomas J Watts Sr. and Florence D Mccune., Billy also had 1 brother , Mr. Vinson Watts, Bowling Green, Ky., and 1 sister, Mrs. Mary A. Price(Cleo), Jackson, Ms., who preceded him in death. Billy peacefully passed away on June 17, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Christina McDaniel, and his two adoring grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers, Mr. Jimmy M. Watts(Fannie), Bowling Green ,Ky., Mr. Thomas J. Watts Jr., Meridian, Ms., Mr. Richard D. Watts(Cassandra), Bowling Green, Ky, Mr Tony Watts( Charlotte), San Antonio, Texas, and 2 sisters, Ms. Esther K.. Gregurek, Henderson, Nevada, and Ms. Mattie F. Davis, Bowling Green, Kentucky. Billy was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family above all else.

Billy attended Newton High School and graduated in 1978. He excelled in basketball, and earned trophies and awards. He was always in the Newton Record Newspaper. After completing his education, he embarked on a successful career at Lazy-Boy in Newton, Ms., and then he became a self-employed individual, retiring in 2019. Hardworking and determined, Billy poured his heart and soul into his work, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Aside from his professional achievements, Billy had a passion for listening to gospel music and reading his bible. It brought him solace and joy in times of both celebration and sorrow. His love for music was a reflection of his kind and gentle spirit. Billy also loved to hunt and fish.

Billy will be deeply missed by his family, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, classmates, and all those whose lives he touched.
