Mozella "Mozelle" Harrit Cole Haney of Oak Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Avantara Park Ridge in Park Ridge, IL on March 03, 2023, her 99th birthday. Mozelle was born on March 03, 1924 in Florence, AL. Her parents who have preceded her in death were Funrow Sr. and Mary Laura Cole. She was the eldest of four siblings. Her oldest brother Lieutenant Cole and her only sister Henrietta Cole Sneed both preceded her in death. Her youngest brother Funrow Cole Jr. (Jennie) resides in Bellwood, IL. Mozelle moved to Buffalo, NY in 1946. She then moved to the Chicago area in 2005.

She attended Burrell High School in Florence, AL in the 1930’s. Mozelle worked various jobs in Buffalo, NY until she settled on becoming a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Sisters of Charity Hospital in 1978 and she retired in 1998. Mozelle came to know the Lord Jesus Christ in 1939 when she was baptized at Rock Primitive Baptist Church in Florence, AL. She became a faithful member of First Shiloh Baptist Church in Buffalo, NY in 1947 and joined the Usher Board. In 1987, Mozelle became a member of Free Spirit Missionary Baptist Church where she joined the Mother’s Board. She was also a member of the Dorcas Society of Buffalo, NY. 

Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband William “Richard” Haney, they were married 73 years. She has three surviving children Hilton (Joyce) Haney, Rosalind Haney and Robin (Keith) Bush. Mozelle is also survived by five Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren.
