MICHAEL J. METCALF, 55 LANARK - Michael J. Metcalf, 55, of Lanark passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 23, 1958, in Chardon, Ohio, a son of Robert and Dorothy (Mandernach) Metcalf. He was graduate of St. Edward's High School in Elgin. He married Carolyn Walston in St. Charles, IL on July 19, 1980. He was a member of Zion Church in Freeport. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn, of Lanark; his three children, Brittany Ann (Casimir) Golema, Nathan (Sarah) Metcalf, and Jessica (Andrew) Schmidt; five grandchildren; six brothers, Kevin, Patrick, Gary, Brian, Brad, and John Metcalf. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Tim and Geoff. Services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Zion Church, 4292 W. Stephenson St. Road, in Freeport, IL, with Pastor Gardy Cronk officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, and after 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.
