Michael Joseph LavelleMichael Joseph Lavelle, age 84, of Bluffton, SC died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at NHC-Bluffton.Mr. Lavelle was born on April 23, 1932 in Plainfield, NJ, the son of Irish immigrants, Michael Vincent Lavelle and Elizabeth Dougherty Lavelle. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired as a Product Specialist after 40 years of service with Engelhard Corporation. He was a member of the Hilton Head Men's Barbershop and Sun City Barbershop, of which he was a Past President. He was also a member of the Sun City Chorus, Sun City Irish Heritage Club, serving as Treasurer and enjoyed amateur HAM radio. Mr. Lavelle was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lavelle; brother, Robert Lavelle; and sister, Vera Cook.He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Doris Lavelle; son, Scott Lavelle of Red Bank, NJ; daughter, Lisa Berman (Scott) of Highland Park, NJ; brother, John P. Lavelle (Norma) of Bluffton, SC; sister, Betty Fulton of Manvelle, NJ; and grandchildren, Emily and Jaclyn. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 Saint Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church Bereavement Committee.
