"Mike" O'Connor, age 74, of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 surrounded by his family.Mike was born on November 11, 1942 in Stambough, Michigan, to the late Ervin and Mabel (DesJarlais) O'Connor. He attended Tipler Grade School and graduated from Valdes High School.Mike married Elaine Theisen on October 12, 1963. The couple resided in Whitelaw until moving to Green Bay in 1995. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Whitelaw Fire Department. In the early 1970's, Mike and his brothers owned and operated the Hiway 29 Sausage Company in Kewaunee County. He retired from Airgas in 2005. Mike was an avid sportsman, he especially enjoyed deer hunting with his family and fishing with his sons. Mike shared a very special bond with his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. Survivors include his daughter Kelly O'Connor of Green Bay, sons Kevin (Patty) O'Connor of Idaho, and Tim (Tammy) O'Connor of Whitelaw. He is also survived by his granddaughter Sierra Christon of Green Bay and grandson Joey O'Connor of Whitelaw. Brothers and sisters-in-law Daniel (Sharon) O'Connor of Two Rivers, James O'Connor of Ohio, Patrick (Linda) O'Connor of Manitowoc; Lois (Bob) Lehman of Ossco, WI, and Roger (Sheryl) O'Connor of Whitelaw, sister Ellen (James) Schneider of Whitelaw, 3 sisters-in-law Susan Wanek of Little Chute, Marlene Theisen of Racine and Charlotte Mezera of Janesville, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He is further survived by his constant companion "Cooper" who could always be found at Mike's side.In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, his grandson Alex Christon, brother John, sister Ann, father and mother-in-law William and Margaret Theisen, 3 brothers-in-law Robert and Richard Theisen and Eugene Mezera and sister-in-law Joann O'Connor.A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. Deacon Tom Mahoney will officiate with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
