Michael C. Kusy Obituary

Apr 15, 1918 - Aug 29, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Kusy, Michael C. It is with deep, and tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our father Michael Charles Kusy who passed away from natural causes on August 29, 2016 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg. Wisconsin. Michael is survived by his wife of 69 years Leone, daughter Susan, son-in-law Timothy White; grandchildren Aaron and Jonathan (White); daughter Joan Meyer and grandson Jay (Meyer); and son Gregory Kusy and grandson Adam (Kusy). Michael is a great-grandfather and further survived by six great-grandchildren. Michael was born on April 15, 1918 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania; he lived there for several years until his family relocated to New York City. After high school Michael enlisted in the U.S Army, after his enlistment and with WWII on the horizon he joined the Merchant Marine. He was selected to attend officer training school, graduated and commissioned an ensign! While on assignment aboard the USS India Arrow, the merchant vessel was torpedoed off the New Jersey coast by a German submarine. The ship was lost, most of the crew perished, however, 12 seamen survived the incident. Michael was proud of his military service, and only spoke of this war time experience if asked. He was a proud man, a member of the greatest generation, deservedly so! After the war ended, Michael moved to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin; where he met his true love and wife Leone. They married and raised a family. Michael was employed at Allen Bradley and enjoyed a thirty plus career in sheet metal design and fabrication! While employed at Allen Bradley Michael was given a special assignment; design and build the clock hands of the largest 4 sided clock in the world. When you look at the Milwaukee skyline and can see the time of day from most locations, and suddenly realize you're running late for an appointment because you glanced at the giant Allen Bradley clock, Michael undoubtedly would be smiling. Michael had several hobbies that included gardening, dancing, biking and swimming at the YMCA. Collectively, the surviving family has one final thought for their father: "Dear Dad," "We hope you find a heavenly, tranquil ocean to sail into eternity; sail on, sail on sailor!" You will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Lasata Care Center for their compassionate care and support during the past 3 years.
You can to the family or in memory of Michael Kusy.
