Michael A. Henning, Sr.Jul. 31, 1944 - Nov. 20, 2016ROLLING PRAIRIE - Michael A. Henning, Sr., 72, of Rolling Prairie, passed away unexpectedly at 10:54 a.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 at La Porte Hospital.He was born on July 31, 1944, in La Porte, IN, to Willard and Yolanda (Tennis) Henning.Michael was an excellent athlete and enjoyed watching sports, especially seeing the Cubs win the World Series. He loved coaching for the Rolling Prairie Little League for 12 years. Michael worked as an Assistant Supervisor in Graphic Arts for Whirlpool Corporation for 32 years. His second career started at the Blue Chip Casino, Michigan City, as a dealer for more than 17 years. Michael enjoyed all of his fellow co-workers and the patrons he met at the Blue Chip Casino.On April 4, 1964, in Mill Creek, IN, he married Rebecca S. (Robinson) Henning, who survives.Also surviving are his son, Michael A. (Barbara) Henning Jr. of Rolling Prairie; two sisters, Diana Makina and Dixie (James) Paul both of La Porte; three grandsons, Mathew Henning of Chicago, IL, Tanner Henning of Tipp City, Ohio, and Lucas Henning of Lakeville; four brothers-in-law, Jake Robinson of La Porte, Gary, Jan (Nina), and Rob (Jody) Robinson all of Mill Creek; and many nieces and nephewsPreceding him in death were his parents; one brother, David Henning; and one brother-in-law, Thomas P. Robinson.A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 6:30 p.m. (CST), Friday, November 25, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100.
