Michael Edward Lennon, born on March 27, 1959, in Arizona, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 30, 2024, at the age of 65. At the time of his passing, he resided in El Paso, Texas. Throughout his life, Michael was known for his dedication to his passions and his love for his family.
Michael had an exceptional talent for cooking, which he honed while working as a chef at the University of Arizona student union and for the UA Astronomy Camp on Mount Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona. His culinary skills were not only a profession but a way to bring joy to others. His love for the Arizona Wildcats was unrivaled, and he was proud to be considered their number-one fan. Michael was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his love of cooking, storytelling, and his unwavering devotion to the Arizona Wildcats.
Later in life, Michael moved to El Paso, Texas, where he founded Lennon Aquarium Maintenance. Through his business, he demonstrated a deep care for aquatic life, earning the trust and admiration of his clients. His work was a testament to his commitment to serving others, a quality that defined him throughout his life.
Michael's family was his greatest pride. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, who were his source of joy. Known for his storytelling, Michael captivated those around him with tales of his past experiences and childhood memories. His stories were legendary, often growing with each retelling, much like the fish that got bigger in his tales but the greatness of his stories remained undisputed.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Milligan (Brian), Amanda Campos (Jose), Mary Lennon-Blake (James), and Sasha Lennon, and his son, Abraham Lennon. He is also survived by his dstep-father, Richard Fortner, and his brothers, Thomas Gilbert, Carmen Arnold, Donald Dominguez (Eva), and Bruce Arnold. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Lou Fortner, his grandfather, Abran Dominguez, and his grandmother, Carmen Rivas. In addition, he will be missed by countless friends he made in his childhood and through several years of work and within his communities.
A funeral mass was held in El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. A graveside memorial will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Tombstone, Arizona, at noon. All are welcome to attend and share memories and stories of Michael with family and friends. In honor of the greatest Wildcat fan, attendees are encouraged to wear U of A Wildcat gear.
Michael is now at peace, reunited with his beloved mother, Mary Fortner. In the spirit of his life and the joy he spread to others, we remember the words of Gandhi: "A thousand candles can be lighted from the flame of one candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness can be spread without diminishing that of yourself." Michael's light continues to shine through the lives he touched.
