Sep 24, 1931 - Sep 05, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Mercedes Adelina Valadez de Navarro died peacefully in her home on September 5, 2017 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 85 surrounded by loved ones. She is now reunited and once again embraced by the love of her life, Jose Jesus Navarro, whom she had shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Mercedes is survived by her children Patricia Navarro, Jesus Navarro (Isabel), Hugo Navarro (Anita), Adriana Urenda (Joe), Octavio Navarro (Udelia), and Vanessa Curtis. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Mo (Lauren), Ana, Alberto, Cristina, Hugo, Gabriel, Lauren, Joey (Marta), Jessica, Lisa (Michael), Jackelyne (Patrick), Victoria, Natasha (Mike), Ezra, Genesis, Kai, Chavita, Isaac, Leah, Cassie (Eric), Anndree, Alyssa, Danielle, and JT. Finally, Mercedes was blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Kai, Valentina, Kaitlyn, Dominik, Emilio, Olivia, Mia, Austin, Riley, and Layla. Mercedes was born on September 24, 1931 to Genaro and Amalia Valadez in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Her graceful presence drew the eye of Jose Jesus Navarro and they married in 1954. Nurturing children came naturally to Mercedes as she raised her six children into the men and women they are today. Since she was a child, Mercedes had a strong faith in the Lord, and it showed through how she lived her life. She served at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church as a Eucharistic minister, lector and catechist. She was endlessly devoted to family; she never closed the door to anyone in need. Her child-like laughter will echo in the hearts of all who she met. Visitation for Mercedes will be Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home (1755 N. Zaragosa Rd.) with recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will take place Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church (8600 Winchester St.). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mercedes' life, as she would have wanted. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and compassion.
