Elwood, Melvina Dec. 22, 1938 - Oct. 19, 2015 Melvina M. Elwood, 76, of Sarasota passed away peacefully Monday, October 19, 2015. She was born on December 22, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late George and Malvina Hoover. Melvina retired after a long career as a beautician. She was an active member of the Sarasota Star, Sarasota Senior Theater and Sarasota Shell Club. She formed a monthly luncheon group from her many club memberships. She volunteered as a docent at Mote Marine Aquarium. Melvina enjoyed Saturday estate sales. She enjoyed music, theater, tap dancing, the beach and most of all, life. Survivors include her devoted husband of 18 years, Ted; loving children, Donald Waun (Brenda), Theresa Blaine (Tom) and Rebecca Kashat; brother, Bert Hoover; sisters, Shirley Ruke and Cindy Gervais (Lowell); 5 grandchildren, Hutch, Brandon, Brendon, Ramone and Joey; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brody, Haily, Aidan and Tripp; many other loving family members and a circle of good friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 22, at 4:30 PM with visitation two hours prior at Palms Robarts Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donation in Melvina's name to the . Melvina will be deeply missed and forever loved.
