It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Meleasia Shaw, born on February 28, 1968, in Smithdale, Mississippi, United States. Meleasia passed away on November 25, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was the beloved daughter of Thomas Swims Jr and Joann Wilson. Meleasia is survived by her partner, Floyd Mitchell, and their four children, Leondra Shaw, Douglas Maleek Smith, Nicholas Smith, and Leon Shaw Jr, with spouse LaDasney Burton. She was also a loving grandmother to four grandchildren.

Meleasia graduated from Franklin County High School in 1985 and continued her studies at Copiah Lincoln Community College. She had a passion for cooking, singing, and fishing, and always brought joy to those around her with her talents.

Meleasia will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
