On July 19 , 2022, after a life well lived Mattie McClain departed this earth. Mattie
was born on June 26, 1943, to Jasper & Pearlena Cato in Florence, S.C.

She graduated from Wilson High School and went on to attend Benedict College in Columbia South Carolina before falling for the love of her life the late John McClain who she married.

Mattie loved working in her church and her community she was well known she loved everyone and she was never shy about encouraging people young and old to embrace new experiences and face challenges head on. Mattie loved attending church, as well travelling. But whatever the activity she most enjoyed it with family and friends. She was an amazing presence who inspired most who she encountered. Through the difficulties of life Mattie supported all she could with what she had, while making sure to take care of herself.

She leaves to remember her life: Her only surviving brother Ervin Cato of Florence, Sc.,

3 children Lakeisha McClain of Florence, S.C., Willie McClain (Wife Dena) of Tampa, Fl. & Genevieve Robinson (Husband James) of Florence, S.C.

6 Grandchildren James B. Robinson (Wife Nicole) , Lakendra Robinson, Danielle McClain, Willie McClain Jr, Tyrek Robinson, & Tyasia Murray along with 10 Great Grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her parents Jasper & Pearlena Cato
and husband John McClain along with two brothers predeceased her.
