A proud New Orleans woman, Mattie devoted her life to raising her children and teaching them to be strong, successful, and determined. She believed that failure was never an option.
When Hurricane Katrina changed the lives of so many, Mattie was forced to leave New Orleans and begin a new chapter in Texas. Through every challenge and every loss, she remained strong in her faith.
Mattie was preceded in death by her children, Mattie Morrison, Willie Chapman, Frank Chapman, and Elaine Haywood, and her grandson, Michael Morrison.
In her final days, Mattie remained peaceful and faithful. Her final wish was simple: to come home to New Orleans and be laid to rest beside her loved ones. Her family will honor that wish.
Her life may have ended, but her legacy will live forever through the family she loved and the lessons she left behind.
