Mary SharpCoppellMary Sharp of Coppell, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held in Coppell in 2018.Mary Grace Murtishaw, the youngest of eight children, was born on Thursday, Jan. 18, 1928 in Wildcat Community near Robert Lee, Texas. She was welcomed into the world by her mother, Grace Eleanor McCutchen Murtishaw and her father, Henry Claude Murtishaw. She attended school at Wildcat and graduated from Bronte High School in 1945.At the age of 18, she was united in marriage to Clifford Franklin Sharp on March 6, 1946 at the First United Presbyterian Church in San Angelo, Texas. They lived in Bronte, San Angelo, and near Carlsbad, Texas.In 1968, Mary received a Bachelor of Science in Education and History from Angelo State College; then in 1974, she received a Master of Arts in Education from Angelo State University. For twenty years, Mary taught at Goliad Elementary School in San Angelo, where she held many offices in several organizations. She was chairman of the Professional Rights and Responsibilities Committee for Classroom Teachers' Association and Goliad Faculty Representative to CTA for three years. She was chairman of the committee in TSTA, hospitality chairman, and Goliad Elementary faculty representative to TSTA for four years. She served as parliamentarian for the Goliad PTA. She retired from teaching on May 28, 1988.Mary was a member of Water Valley Baptist Church.Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cliffie and Jerry Sensabaugh of Coppell, Texas; granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Lauran and Audrey Popp of Grapevine, Texas; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Mary/Murt/Aunt Murt/Aunt Mary/Mrs. Sharp would want her nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, and students to know that she loved them all very much.
