This obituary is administered by:
Hirte, Mary L.Mary Lee Hirte, age 80, of Neenah passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Mary was born on May 5, 1936 in New London, Wisconsin daughter of the late Neil Russell and Katherine Ruth McBeath. Growing up Mary enjoyed spending summers up North at Anvil Lake with her grandma, Anna McBeath. Anvil Lake always remained a special place in her heart. Mary graduated from Shawano High School on May 27, 1954 and went on to pursue a career in nursing where she spent 41 years selflessly and lovingly caring for all. Most of those years were spent working at Valhaven Nursing Home where patients and co-workers were able to witness and experience the kind and genuine care that Mary had to offer. It took special people like Mary and her co-workers to do their gifted work with passion and a sense of humor! Oh, the many stories Mary and her friends could tell! She forged deep friendships with her closest nursing home gang, who were her lifelong friends. Mary made an impression on so many people. She was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend to so many. We are all going to miss her unbelievable, beautiful holiday decorations and gift wrapping talent as well as her great cooking, which made for fantastic family gatherings. We will all miss her so much.On September 30, 1976, Mary was united in marriage to Warren Hirte. They shared 36 eventful and crazy years together traveling to Texas to visit family and friends, and serving many a fish fry to family and extended families.
