Mary Jean Lynn MOLLARD Obituary

Feb 06, 1929 - Mar 04, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
MARY JEAN LYNN MOLLARDIt is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of our mother, Mary Jean Lynn Mollard, who died on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the house she loved with the man she loved. Her last hour was spent having lunch with Dad. She had her hair done just the day before – leaving her beautiful and well turned out as usual. Our mom was many things – a creative seamstress who sewed all her kids' clothes, a first rate cook and baker, a natural storyteller, a faithful volunteer with Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, and a lifelong learner who mastered the computer at age 80. Neighbours and friends will remember more than 50 years of annual Christmas parties, where she was a gracious host in charge of the punch bowl.Mary Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and close friend to many. She was kind, generous, dependable, and full of fun and laughter, always a sparkle in her eye – one who enjoyed life and was always ready to help a neighbour. Mary Jean was an active member of Lakeview United Church for 50 years and recently returned to the Anglican Church (her childhood church) at St. Paul's Cathedral. For almost 60 years she and Dad were strong supporters of the Regina Symphony, the Globe Theatre, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Mary Jean was born on February 6, 1929 in Fairmont, West Virginia to Clyde and Mary Kathryn Lynn. Her parents encouraged her to attend university, believing she could do anything she set her mind on. She studied Food and Nutrition at Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, winning major academic awards. Later, Mary Jean obtained a Master's degree in Clothing and Textiles at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. It was there that she met her husband, Dr. Jack Mollard, at a graduate dance. That started the beginning of a lifelong adventure together. They married in September 1952 and moved to Regina where Mary Jean taught Home Economics for several years before becoming a mother and devoting her life to her family. She loved Dad and always made it clear that he was at the centre of a world that she was fully in control of, except when he was. Mary Jean was predeceased by her parents Clyde and Mary Kathryn, her brother Lewis and his wife Ronnie and her dear sister Frances. She leaves her husband, Jack, and her three children Cathy (Stephen), Jacci, and Patrick (Leslie), her beloved grandchildren Nicole, Danielle, and Ashton, and Uncle George and his family, as well as many nieces and nephews. We are grateful to the women of Bayshore, who assisted Mom, making life easier for her over the past few years. We are especially indebted to Patrick and Leslie who live only three blocks away, and who contributed to Mom living out her years in peace, comfort, and a lot of good company. To Celebrate Mary Jean's life, a Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral, 1859 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memoriam to St. Paul's Cathedral, 1859 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 4G5.
