Mary Jane "Janie" Peters92, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 24, 2017.  She was born on August 18, 1924 in Charleston, Illinois to the late Arthur and Minnie Shafer.  She was a member of Ben Davis Christian Church and enjoyed cooking and gardening.Survivors include her daughters, Sherry (Wesley) Downton, Karen (David) Bennett, grandson, Chad (Nicole) Downton, 2 great grandchildren, Shelby and Logan Downton and step-grandaughter, Breona (Daniel) Schultz and 4 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Clifford Mitchell, Robert Ransdell and Donald Peters and 7 siblings.Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 28, 2017 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN, with the service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
