Mary Frances SimsWILMINGTON, NC: Mary Frances Sims peacefully passed away on April 18, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington, NC. Mary was born on September 9, 1924, to Wilma Gallogly McIntire in the High Hill community of Muskingum County, Ohio, and was a graduate of Meigs High School. She married Howard Edwin Sims in 1944, and Mary and Ed lived in the Pleasant Grove community of Zanesville, Ohio for many years. She was also a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church in Zanesville for 70 years. Mary moved to Wilmington, NC, five years ago to be near her daughter, Rita.Mary was preceded in death by her mother; her husband Ed; four brothers, James, Robert, Earl, and Dale; nephew Doug McIntire; and son-in-law John Chaffin. She is survived by her daughter Rita Sims Chaffin; grandson Jason Chaffin and wife Patty; granddaughter Jessica Brown and husband Mark; and great grandchildren Jake, Eva, and Sydney. She will be missed by her sister-in-law Eleanor McIntire, brother-in-law Robert Reed, and all her special nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was a loving, independent lady who was known for her talents in growing flowers, cooking, crafting and helping others. A memorial service will be held soon at her home church in Zanesville.
