Mary Frances Greetan, 85, of Landsun Dr., passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at her home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church. Father Martin Cordero will be the celebrant. Vigil will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at San Jose Catholic Church. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. on Thursday at West Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the mass. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com Mary Frances Murphy Greetan was born on a farm in Union Township Fayette County, in West Union, Iowa on October 9, 1931, to parents William and Elizabeth Miller Murphy. She was raised and educated in Iowa, and graduated high school in 1949. Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone for eight years. Mary and the love of her life, Donald Greetan, were married August 8, 1957 at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM. She followed her husband to new assignments in New Mexico, Texas and Michigan. She raised and cared for their 7 children while Don served his country. In 1976 she and Don made Carlsbad, NM their permanent home. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Don Greetan, parents and siblings: Raymond Murphy, Kay Kohn, Sam Murphy and Charlie Murphy. She is survived by her children: Patrick (Kathy) Greetan of Midland, TX, William (Becky) Greetan of El Paso, TX, Kathleen (Charles) Toy of Oklahoma City, OK, Don (Jonella) Greetan of Artesia, NM, Thomas Greetan of Albuquerque, NM, Susan (Ron) Goeke of Albuquerque, NM and Jeanne (Clint) Thompson of Carlsbad, NM; brother Leo Murphy of Plano, TX; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and her faithful puppy/companion Gidget as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jonah's House, Packs for Hunger or the Cat's Meow.
