BOERNE, TEXAS - Martha Belle Saunders passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2011, at Town and Country Manor in Boerne Texas. She was born on November 3, 1924, in Pink Hill, North Carolina to Jasper and Carrie Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Saunders of San Antonio and her brother, J. K. Smith of Kinston North Carolina. She is survived by her brother, Howard Smith of Washington, North Carolina; and a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Stroud of Pink Hill, North Carolina. She leaves behind her two sons, Charles "Sid " Saunders and his wife Karen, of San Antonio and Joe Saunders and his wife Tana, of Comfort; three grandchildren, Charles Douglas Saunders and his wife Tiffani, of San Antonio, Jonathan Saunders of Los Angeles, Cherie Saunders of New Braunfels; and one great grandchild, Sidney Saunders of San Antonio. Martha spent her adult life in San Antonio and was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Entombment will be with her husband at Sunset Memorial Park in a private ceremony. A memorial will be held a later date. In lieu of flowers Martha requested gifts could be made to the Grace Presbyterian Memorial Fund 950 Donaldson Ave, San Antonio, TX 78228.
