Marlene (Martha) Layne (Short)MARION: Marlene (Martha) Layne (Short), age 77 of Marion, passed away peacefully in the evening of Friday November 25, 2016 at her home.She was born on January 23, 1939 in Marion, Ohio to the late George and Veryl (Roux) Short in Marion, Ohio. She had several brothers and sisters. Marlene married Rev. Bobby H. Layne on February 1, 1960 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Upon Bobby's discharge from the Army, they came home to Marion, Ohio where they lived the rest of their lives. She retired from Marion Power Shovel/ Marion Dresser. She then worked at Fairfield Engineering for several years. She was also a church secretary for several different churches over the years.Marlene and Bobby were married for 53 years. They had three children: Theresa (Bryan) Siders, Melissa (Roger) Rice and Robert (Tracey) Layne. Also, she had five grandchildren: Miranda Layne, Robert Layne II, Sarah Rice, Anisa Smith and Kelli Siders. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.Family and friends can come on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home starting at 5pm to 7pm to honor the life of Marlene. Funeral services will be on Thursday December 1, 2016 at the funeral home at 11am with Pastor Rohan Anderson officiating. Burial will follow service at the Grand Prairie cemetery.
