Marissa M. Jones

Marissa M. Jones, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2026, at the age of 40 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, following injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident.

Born on October 23, 1985, to Ryan and Denise Howard, Marissa was raised in a loving family where she learned the values of kindness, compassion, loyalty, and hard work. She carried those values throughout her life and shared them generously with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Marissa was a proud graduate of Missouri State University, where she earned her Master of Engineering in Safety Engineering. Her passion for safety, learning, and helping others guided both her professional and personal life. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and understood.

Above all else, Marissa was devoted to her family. She shared a beautiful life with her late husband, Andrew Jones, whose military service took their family to many places and allowed them to build lifelong friendships across the country. Eventually, they settled in Comstock Park, Michigan, near Andrew's family and the community they came to love.

Marissa's greatest joy was being a mother to her children, Leslie, Andy, and Aria. She was their biggest supporter, fiercest protector, and most loving advocate. She cherished every moment spent with them and created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.

Marissa never met a stranger. Whether she was gathering with friends for drinks, spending summer days swimming in her pool, or hosting parties at her home, she brought people together effortlessly. Her door was always open, her heart was always welcoming, and she was the first person many called when they needed help, encouragement, or simply someone to listen.

She is survived by her loving parents, Ryan and Denise Howard; her brother, Ryan Howard; her sister, Tessa Howard; her cherished children, Leslie, Andy, and Aria Jones; her beloved dog, Hank; her in-laws; and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and friendship.

Marissa was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jones.

Though her time here was far too short, Marissa leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, friendship, and unwavering dedication to those she cared about. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral and memorial service arrangements are currently being finalized. The family is considering services in either Grand Rapids, Michigan, or Springfield, Missouri, and will announce details at a later date. Family and friends are encouraged to watch for updates regarding visitation and funeral service information as plans are completed. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the West Michigan Humane Society in Marissa's honor.
