RACINE - Marilyn R. Mrkvicka, 61, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on January 18, 1953, the daughter of E. Peter and Geraldine “Gerrie” (nee: LeClair) Mrkvicka. She was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1971”. Marilyn was employed as an English Teacher at Washington Park High School. She was very active as Coach of Washington Park High School Pom Pon Squad. Marilyn was a member of Belle City Brassworks for many years. She also was a very active member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. Marilyn is survived by her father, E. Peter Mrkvicka; brothers, Allen Mrkvicka of Robbinsdale, MN and Steven (Alison) Mrkvicka Sr. of Racine, nephew, Steven Mrkvicka Jr. of Racine; two nieces, Kristen (Nikia) Mrkvicka Morris of Racine and Adrienne Mrkvicka of Des Moines, IA; two great nieces, Alexia Mrkvicka and Myah Caron of Racine. In addition she is further survived by aunts, uncles, other relatives and many dear friends, including her church family and former students. Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, Gerrie on January 28, 1996. Funeral services will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. 6th Street on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mark Doidge officiating. There will be a visitation at the church before services on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For those wishing to attend the interment at West Lawn Memorial Park, please meet at the cemetery entrance on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. Memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church or to , 234 W. Florida St., Milwaukee, WI 53204 have been suggested by the family. A special thank you to Dr. Mullane and his staff and to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Hospice for the loving care provided to Marilyn.
