Home going celebration

It is with both heavy hearts and cherished memories that we remember the life and the adventures of Marilyn Johnson-Blanton, who passed away on September 14, 2023. Born on April 7, 1950, in the charming town of Tyler, Texas, Marilyn lived a life that touched the hearts of so many. She leaves behind 7 children as well as 10 grandchildren.

Marilyn was an exceptional individual who brought light, laughter, and love wherever she went. Her infectious smile could brighten the gloomiest of days, and her vibrant personality made life a little more colorful for all who knew her. She had an unwavering zest for life, a determination to find the silver linings, and an uncanny ability to bring joy to every situation.

When it came to the kitchen, Marilyn was the queen of culinary adventures. Her cooking was legendary, and her signature dish, the secret family recipe fried chicken, would make your taste buds dance with each and every bite. No potluck, family gathering, or church event was complete without Marilyn's delightful creations, and she had a knack for turning mealtime into moments of shared warmth and togetherness.

Marilyn's love for nature was unmatched. She found solace in her beautifully manicured garden, where her green thumb reigned supreme. She could often be found tending to her flowers, humming along to her favorite tunes, or even talking to her plants as if they were old friends. There's no doubt that Marilyn's garden welcomed each new day with bursts of vibrant colors and melodies of nature.

An avid traveler, Marilyn embraced every opportunity to explore the world. Whether she was boarding a cruise ship to the Caribbean, hiking in the stunning national parks, or simply enjoying a road trip to neighboring towns, she had a natural curiosity and a true wanderlust spirit. Her adventures were always filled with laughter, camera clicks, and stories that would be told and retold for years to come.

Marilyn was devoted to her community and deeply invested in the lives of those around her. She was a tireless volunteer, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. From organizing charity events to knitting blankets for newborns at the local hospital, Marilyn's heart overflowed with compassion for others. She had an incredible ability to make everyone feel seen and loved, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.

Marilyn Johnson-Blanton may have left this earthly realm, but her spirit lives on, carried forth by the memories shared with her beloved family and cherished friends. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, let us celebrate her vibrant spirit, her infectious laughter, and the love she so freely bestowed upon us all.

In honor of Marilyn's wishes for a lighthearted farewell, we kindly ask that you join us in wearing colorful attire at her memorial service, which will be held at the Springdale Funeral Home on September 20, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Tyler Community Garden, a cause that was near and dear to Marilyn's heart.

We shall forever hold dear the memories we have shared with Marilyn Johnson-Blanton, a true force of nature who taught us to live life to the fullest with love, laughter, and a touch of mischief.
