Marie Chambers-BeverinoCamarillo, CAMarie Chambers-Beverino passed away on March 15, 2017 after a year long illness due to a stroke. Marie was born on May 9, 1918 in Lowell Kansas to Nellie and George Chambers. She was the middle child of three girls and two boys. Marie was actively involved in a Drum and Bugle Corp during her high school years. She also played basketball for the school team. Marie moved to Glendale California when she reached college age. She worked as a nanny for a family in Glendale while working her way through school. She studied accounting at Glendale Community College leading to a career in accounting.During the war years Marie worked at Pacific Airmotive Corp in Burbank. There she met the love of her life, George Beverino. They married just before George went into the Army Air Corp. Military assignments took them to different parts of the country. The longest assignment was in Winfield Kansas. Their first son Louis was born during this time in 1945. Their son Jerry was born in 1948. After World War II they moved to Northridge to be close to family, raising their two boys in Van Nuys. After the boys grew up and left home Marie started traveling around the world. She became a member of Rebekah's Assemblies and Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW), serving as president of BPW for a time. After George passed away Marie moved to Camarillo. She missed the club activities so she joined the Camarillo Women's Club and Camarillo Republican Women's Club. Marie also became very involved playing bridge both at the Camarillo Senior Center and with friends. Further to keep her mind sharp Marie took up computer technology belonging to the Ventura Mac Appleholics as well as taking classes at the Ventura County Office of Education. She was well liked by all that knew her. Marie is survived by two sons, two grandsons and four great-granddaughters. Marie's life will be celebrated at her home church, Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Drive, Camarillo, Ca 93010, on Wed May 24 at 11:30 a.m.
