Maria Epifinia Mejillas, 88, a lifetime resident of San Jose passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016.She was born on Dec. 7, 1927 in San Jose to Noberto Griego and Rufina Salas.She was a Catholic and attended the San Jose Church in San Jose. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.She is preceded in death by her parents, Noberto and Rufina Griego; husband, Jose M. Mejillas; granddaughter, Epi Mejillas; sisters, Carmen McDowell and Cecilia Flores; and brother, Paul Benavidez.She is survived by her sons, Frank Mejillas (Katie) of San Jose, and Marcos Mejillas (Gloria) of Wagon Mound; daughters, Margaret Rivera (Pete) of San Jose, Therese Esquibel (Al) and Annie Najera (Mario), all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Joey, Jonathan, Peter, Victoria, Frances, Kimberly, Suzanna, Christella, Paulina, T.J. and Crystal; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Raymond, Isabella, Mason, Toby, Jose and Christopher; great-great-grandchildren, Ariela and Francisco; sister, Eva Autry and husband, Lawrence, of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the San Jose Church in San Jose. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) also at the San Jose Church with Father Ron Stone as celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in San Jose with the following as casket bearers: Joey Esquibel, Jonathan Esquibel, Peter Rivera, Suzanna Najera, Frances Mejillas and Victoria Mejillas. Honorary bearers are all her remaining grandchildren.
