Margaret (Pennock) Meeder, 97, of Hanover, Pa., and formerly of Girard, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Transitions Health Care, Gettysburg, Pa. She was born on November 14, 1919, in Erie, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Hodanich) Pennock. Margaret was raised and educated in McKean Township on the Pennock family farm and graduated from the Stancliff Public one-room school in the days of ox and horse drawn farm implements. She met her husband John, while working at Lord Corp. in Erie during WWII, producing artillery rounds. Margaret was also the first female school bus driver in Erie County. She was also a Cub Scout Den mother for 12 years and a Pennsylvania championship class bowler right handed, was injured and returned to bowling within a few years, left handed. Margaret was an original member of S.S. Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church in Girard and was well known for her pastry and culinary skills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Meeder in 1974 and whom she married in Erie; also by her sisters, Helen Silay and Mary Bebko; and brothers, Frank, Michael and William Pennock. Her family includes three sons, John F. "Jack" Meeder of Edinboro, Charles A. Meeder (Bonnie) of Houston, Texas, and David W. Meeder (Tammy) of Hanover, Pa.; her sisters, Betty Hornyak (John) of Girard and Shirley Wilczewski (Joseph) of Erie; her grandchildren, Carrie Meeder, Alisha Jones, Megan Knight, Katherine Marshall, and Zoe Meeder, great-grandchildren, Carlee Baker, Haven Knight, Emma Baker, Kathryn Marshall and Lennon Jones; and also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard, and are invited to attend the Panachida Service there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral liturgy at S.S.
