RICHMOND, Utah - Margaret Louise Heward Pope, 92, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Logan, Utah, at the Sunshine Terrace. She was born on Nov. 10, 1916, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Johnny Percival and Elsie Marie Burckhart Heward, the fourth of 11 children. Her early years were spent in Wallsburg, Utah. When she was 13 her family moved to Park City, Utah, where she graduated from Park City High School in 1935. She met William Reese Pope in 1938 and they were married on Dec. 27, 1939. They raised their family on farms and ranches in Park City, Utah, Rockland and Arimo, Idaho, and the Big Hole Valley in Montana. They also lived in Orem, Utah, and Upland, Calif. They spent their later years in Medicine Lodge, Mont., and the last 25 years in Richmond, Utah. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother and was deeply loved by her family and all who knew her. She had a special love for children and will always be remembered for her stories, poems and her sense of humor. She had many talents and encouraged her posterity to develop theirs. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life and served in many capacities. She was also a long time member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, having ancestors that settled the Salt Lake Valley. She is survived by her husband Reese; children, Richard Pope of Lewiston, Utah, Diane Briggs (Boyd) of Dillon, Mont., Glenn Pope (Patreece) of Provo, Utah, Colleen Kay Howe (Dave) of Salt Lake City, Utah; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Flora Knipfer of Chicago/Burbank, Ill., and Elaine Shields (Glen) of Layton, Utah. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Lawrence Pope; her parents; brothers Clyde, Ralph, John, Merrill and Keith; and sisters, Evelyn, Marie and Betty. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in Richmond, Utah, at the Richmond 2nd Ward Chapel, 150 S. 100 East. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com. Services are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. Special thanks go to Dr. Salisbury, Dr. Heninger, Dr. Larson, the staff at Sunshine Terrace (especially wings 2 & 7), the Drs. And staff of C.V.S.H. Wound Clinic and Hyperbaric Chamber, and to Tammy Ellis for her loving home care.
