Today we celebrate Margaret Charlene Banks, born on September 5th, 1946, and passed away on March 26, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her family and friends will remember her as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Margaret was raised in green pastures Oklahoma, where she attended the local schools and attended Dunjee High School.  After high school, she worked a couple of jobs but spent most of her time raising 4 children.  After her children were adults with children of their own Margaret started working at the medical research foundation, then on to Cardiovascular Biology at OMRE where she retired from in 2011.  

Throughout her life, Margaret was known for her straight-up, straight-to-the-point, no-BS personality. Her family and friends will always remember her for her immaculate home, her boujee ways, for baking treats every Christmas (whether you wanted them or not), her infectious laugh, and her quotes “If you know your know” most of these cannot be repeated. Lol! Margaret was the kind of person who would shoot you straight no matter what, and you may get cussed out actually, you will get cussed out but in the end, she will have your back. 

As Margaret grew older, she loved spending time watching Kick-A movies (In her words), The Cooking Channel, and reading romance novels. She was always up for a trip to Hobby Lobby or inviting you over for a massive dinner she prepared, and you better eat it all, or you are in trouble. In 2014 Margaret fell sick with an infection. She had an early onset of dementia, lost the ability to walk, and she could no longer live on her own. She was placed in a nursing home where she remained spunky, spicy, and unfiltered until the day of her homegoing. 

Margaret is survived by her siblings Virginia Watts, Leonard Banks, Linda Banks, and Kenneth Banks. Her children are Charlene Hudpseth, Glenetta Lawal, Patrick Banks, and Mark Banks. Her grandchildren LaTasha Clark, Sharrice Banks, Marquez Taylor, Marquita Banks, Monique Banks, and Mark Banks Jr. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Margaret was preceded by her mother, Hattie May Banks, and Her sister, Doris Dickerson.  Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but they will always remember her for the unique moments they spent with her.
