It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mardena Washam, who was born on October 29, 1946, in York, Pennsylvania, United States. Mardena passed away on June 27, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
Mardena was the beloved daughter of Chauncey Davis and Teretha Owens-Davis. She is survived by her four children, Thomas Washam, David Washam, Charles Barrett, and Derrick Barrett. Mardena also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She has one surviving sibling, Joyce Davis. Mardena was predecessed by brothers, Harvey and Ronald and sisters Audrey, Barbara, and Carolyn.
After graduating from Chester High School in 1964, Mardena continued her education at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. She dedicated many years of her life to working at USPS and the Office of Aging, where she made a positive impact on the lives of many. Mardena was actively involved in volunteering at the Senior Center organization, where she helped improve the community around her.
Aside from her professional endeavors, Mardena had a passion for reading and spent countless hours immersed in books. She found joy in volunteering and always sought opportunities to help those in need.
Mardena's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity will leave a lasting impact on those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
