Rev. Mack Whitney III, 67, died on Sunday, September 25, 2016, in Chapel Hill, NC. He was born on February 7, 1949, in Sneads Ferry, NC to Mack Whitney II and Rosalee Spicer. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Trent River Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Headquarters at 465 Georgetown Road, Jacksonville, NC. Visitation will precede the service from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will follow at the Interfaith Cemetery located in Sneads Ferry.In 1970, he married Lorena Whitney. They had four children together, Michael, Reginald, Aleshia, and Natalie and four grandchildren. He worked in law enforcement for 32 years at the Onslow County Sheriff's Department and was currently serving as a director on the Jones-Onslow Electric Co-Op board.
