Hadley, Mabel Broadbent, 104 - of Newport, RI and Manhattan passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Weill Cornell Hospital with her devoted family by her side.

 

She is survived by her son Joseph R. Daley, Jr., daughter Susan K. Daley, son Stanley J. Hitchens, and her grand-daughter Hadley A. Patterson who was the light of her life, and five other grandchildren. She was predeceased by her 2nd husband Joseph R. Daley, her 1st husband Stanley Hitchens, her son John H. Hitchens, and her sister Ella Wilkins.

 

Mrs. Hadley was born on February 13, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Josiah Hadley and to Anna Hadley, and moved to Manhattan as a young girl. Mrs. Hadley attended the College of William and Mary, and graduated from Barnard University. In 1935 Mrs. Hadley married her first husband, Stanley Hitchens and had two children with him before he died in 1953. Four years later, she married her second husband, Joseph Daley, and had two children with him before he died in 1992.

 

Mrs. Hadley was also a member of the New York Yacht Club and the Newport Country Club. Mrs. Hadley enjoyed summering in Newport, and traveling in France. Mrs. Hadley enjoyed a fulfilling life and lived to the old age of 104.
