A formal visitation for Luvene (Clanton) Akins, age 85, of Sweetwater will be on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 5 to 7p.m at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.Her wishes were cremation.Akins died October 31, 2016 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.She was born on September 3, 1931 in Sweetwater.She married John Akins on January 17, 1957 in Abilene.Luvene was a member of the Church of Christ. She was born in Sweetwater and graduated from Sweetwater Newman High School in 1949. She and John lived at Oak Creek Lake from 1983 and moved into Sweetwater since 2007 and resided until her death. She is survived by her husband John Akins of Sweetwater and a grandson Phillip "P.J" Akins of Gilmer.She was preceded in death by her son James Douglas Akins June 30, 2016, a sister Rebecca Kreisher in 2003, her parents Walter Clifford Clanton May 16, 1964 and Myrtle Pauline Woodson Clanton May 14, 1966.
