Lucia (Lucy) was born on March 6, 1951 in Santa Rosa, Texas to Antonio Carrasco and Lucia S. Leija. From the age of 19, she began her life-long passion of working with children in education as a school secretary, teacher's aide, and then finally, a certified teacher by the age of 39. Before her retirement, she dedicated 17 years to La Feria ISD, as both a 2nd and later, a 1st grade teacher. She loved her job and always took pride in making sure that every child, no matter their situation, was educated to the best of her ability. Her joyful presence was felt down the hallways and the numerous amount of lives that she touched will never be forgotten. She is preceded in death by her adoptive mother, Petra T. Silva and her brother, Tomas Carrasco of Santa Rosa. She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Roberto Ochoa, her two sons, Roberto Hernan Ochoa and Ronaldo Issac (Corina) Ochoa and her daughter Ilsa Veronica (Mark) Orta all of who reside in Santa Rosa. One of her many joys in life was her only granddaughter, Hannah Jane Ochoa, whom she cherished and loved with all her heart and will continue to love dearly from her place in Heaven. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Rodriguez and brother, Apolonio Carrasco, her biological mother, Lucia S. Leija, many half/adoptive brothers and sisters, and numerous family members, nieces and nephews who will always remember her for being a joyful part of their lives. Visitation will begin Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas from 1PM - 9PM. Holy Rosary will begin at 7PM on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Santa Rosa at 2PM with burial to follow at Santo Nombre Cemetery, also in Santa Rosa, Texas.
