Loy Mercer SLATON-Loy Mercer, 84, of Slaton, Texas, passed away on Dec. 11, 2016, in Lubbock. Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, in Englewood Cemetery, with Dr. Cleve Kerby officiating. Services are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service. There will be a visitation at the funeral home Tuesday, prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Loy was born on Feb. 12, 1932, in Goree, Texas. She moved with her family to Southland in 1942 and attended Southland School. Loy married Paul Roscoe Mercer in Slaton on Oct. 28, 1955. Loy worked for Teague Drug, Dr. Glen Payne's Office, Slaton Pharmacy, Eblen Pharmacy and Anthony's retiring in 1994. Roscoe preceded her in death March of 1995. Loy is survived by two daughters, Sandra and Ronney Jones of Slaton, Susan and Russell Hoffman of Midland; two sons, Mike and Juanita Brake of San Angelo and Joe and Cheri Mercer of Bentonville, AR; two sisters, Joy Lester of Amarillo, Jo Ann Smith of Slaton; two brothers, Bobby Jack Trimble of Midland, J.H. Trimble of Lubbock; and 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to or Slaton's Senior Citizen Meals on Wheels.
