Louise G. DoudDes MoinesLouise Gayle Doud, 96, of Des Moines, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 25, at Merle Hay Funeral Home, and will be conducted by Rev. Melinda Cree-Anthony. There will be a visitation before the service, starting at 10:00 a.m.Louise was born on June 2, 1920, in Ames, the daughter of Iner and Kathyrn Masters Johnson. She married Paul H. Doud in 1940. Louise worked for Younkers for many years. She was very active in volunteering for many years and had received awards from Methodist Hospital for her many hours of dedication and help. She was a member of the Des Moines Garden Club and the Audubon Society. Louise loved going to the Iowa State Fair and traveling and went to Europe many times. She enjoyed bird watching, eating out, and spending time with her cat Rascal and her poodles. She is survived by her two nephews from Illinois, Brian and Allen. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother David Johnson, and sister-in-law Maxine Doud.Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League or Unity Point Hospice.
