Louis Decurie Hicks was born on December 13, 1937 in Clinton, North Carolina to Cassel and Justine Hicks. Louis Decurie Hicks departed his life on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
Louis received his education from Sampson High School in Clinton, North Carolina; there he was a part of the football and baseball team.
Because he played sports so well his high school coach enrolled him at North Carolina College where he played football and basketball. Once he completed college he moved to New York; where he pur- sued a career in boxing and became a Heavyweight Boxing Special- ist in Brooklyn, New York. There he met the love of his life, Hazel Hicks. Louis and Hazel was married on December 29, 1962. Louis and family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and was employed with and retired from Georgia World Congress Center. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel Hicks; grand- sons, Garret and Jahquan Hicks and one daughter, Shelia Carter and two sisters, Castella Vann and Janice Hicks.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Shirell (Kimyaki) Jackson, Shabar Hicks, Louis Hicks, Sharron (Matthew) Littles, Sheree Hicks; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grand- children; one brother, Johnnie Excell Hicks; one sister, Mrs. Doris Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews, who called him "Uncle Kirk", family and friends.
