Reynolds, LouinaLouina Younger Reynolds died peacefully on May 6, 2017, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Daughter of Harvey Otto Younger and Lucy Verity Younger, Lou was born on February 21, 1927 in Neenah, Wisconsin, and raised in Appleton with her brothers, John, Bill, and Jim Younger. After graduating from Appleton High School, she completed her degree at University of Wisconsin-Madison, becoming a Registered Nurse and subsequently received a B.S. degree in Public Health Nursing at the University of Minnesota. Following graduation, Louina was employed as a public health nurse in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin.While at the University of Minnesota, she met M. Thomas Reynolds, and they were married on September 5, 1953. During their 55 years of marriage, they first lived in Iowa City and Mason City, Iowa and La Crosse, Wisconsin, with the majority of their time together spent in Manitowoc (starting in 1963) and Two Rivers (from 1994).Lou enjoyed being a full-time mother while raising a family. During this time she was actively involved supporting the children's activities, including various school programs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church Sunday School, their delivering of the Herald Times Reporter for over 20 years and shepherding the family with Tom on annual vacations, driving to 49 states as they travelled in their station wagon, camping in two 9' x 9' tents and learning about history and geography as the children maintained scrapbooks of the travels.Lou resumed her professional career in 1981, when she began working part-time at Family Service Association as Home Care Director, and then from 1986 - 1999 she worked at Rainbow House, with part of that time as Director of Nurses.Lou was dedicated to community service and was deeply involved in a variety of local organizations as a volunteer, including First Reformed UCC, Grace Congregational UCC, Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Manitowoc County Emergency Medical Services Council, Manitowoc County Institutional Board of Trustees for Park Lawn Home and the County Health Care Center, Wisconsin State Health Policy Council, Manitowoc County and Northeast Wisconsin Health Systems Agency Boards, Shady Lane Board of Directors, League of Women Voters, Laubach Literacy, Habitat for Humanity, Two Rivers Senior Center and Washington House in Two Rivers. Additionally, for 25 years, Tom and Lou volunteered as nurse and counselor at the Moon Beach church camp, west of Eagle River, while the children attended as campers.In addition to this full slate, Lou enjoyed walking, birdwatching and attending Elder Hostels. Louina took particular joy in maintaining a calendar of friends' and neighbors' birthdays and anniversaries, and carved out time each day to call and re-connect with those on her list.Louina was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Tom in 2009. Survivors include 5 children: Mary (Jim) Wacker (Appleton), Paul (Cathy) Reynolds (Manitowoc), David "RJ" (Diana) Reynolds (Manitowoc), Sarah (David) Gallagher (Two Rivers) and Peter Reynolds (Maura Boldrini) (New York); six grandchildren: Elizabeth (Reynolds) Peterson, Thomas Reynolds, Emilee (Reynolds) Brown, Sophie (Reynolds) DeMoss, Bridget (Gallagher) Polit, and Brian Gallagher; and six great-grandchildren: Syvana, Camden and Cutler DeMoss, Natalie Brown; Brycyn Thompson and Allison Gallagher.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St. Two Rivers. Rev. Kim Henning and Rev. Colie Bettivia will officiate the service. The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers, from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening, May 11, 2017.
