YORK BEACH, Maine - Lorraine "Ma" Ruger, 87, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, Maine, after a long period of declining health. She was born on November 12, 1929, in Dover, N.H., and had resided in York Beach for 60 years. She was a graduate of Traip Academy, Kittery, Maine, and on February 21, 1948, married her best friend and sweetheart, William P. Ruger, Sr. Together they created a loving family which included five children, 15 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Lorraine enjoyed cooking for her family and all who entered their home at 12 Atlantic Ave. She also loved astrology, makeup sales, and partying with family and friends. She was an extraordinary loving and caring woman who was "Ma" to all who knew her. Lorraine worked as a waitress at Yoken's, Valle's Steak House and Stage Neck Inn. She also was a "Golden Bra" fitter at Hanes/Bali in Kittery. Mrs. Ruger was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea/St. Christopher's by the Sea Churches in York. She was predeceased by her husband William P. Ruger, Sr., also known as "Popeye", on April 13, 2004. She was also predeceased by her mother and father Lawrence Eldridge and Laurance Eldridge Pace and a sister Brandta Bossie. Survivors include her children: William Ruger, Jr., and wife Diane of Dover, N.H.; Diane Caron, Portsmouth, N.H.; Laurie Robinson and husband Michael, New Port Richey, Fla.; Peter and friend Jen Thibodeau, York Beach, Maine; and Brandta Ruger and friend Scott Goddard, Jr., York Beach, Maine; also Tamara and Michael Milliard, York, Maine. Her siblings: Shirley Smith, June Brock, Brandt Pace, and Penny Grimes; many nieces, nephews, and special friends: Alicia and Sonny McIntire, Kathy O'Donnell, and Sandra Herne. SERVICES: Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m., at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. Her funeral will be held Thursday, with a Mass of Christian burial, at 11 a.m., in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine.
