Loretta Marie Safford-Hill, also known as Baebae, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2023, at the age of 64 in Mobile, Alabama. Sister Loretta was born to the late Raphael & Mattie Safford on November 11, 1958, in Citronelle, Alabama, Loretta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Loretta was known for her sweet and giving nature. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She loved to throw her hand up in the air and dance to an old blues song, but was quick to remind you that she walked with the Lord by pointing up to the sky. Loretta cherished her family and was especially devoted to her children and her husband. She had a strong faith and was a dedicated member of Triumph Ministry Church, where she found solace and strength.
Loretta was a devoted homemaker and mom, taking pride in caring for her family and creating a loving and nurturing environment for them. She was known for her culinary skills, particularly her famous potato salad, which was considered the best in Alabama. Loretta also found solace in reading her Bible, finding inspiration and guidance within its pages.
Loretta will be deeply missed by her husband Barnette Hill Sr. Her siblings, Mary Kelly, Elijah Safford, Barbara Safford, and Rosa (Roy) Kirkwood. She is also survived by her children, Rodney (Christina) Safford and Barnette Jr (Shayla) Hill, as well as her cherished granddaughters, Ryleigh, Deborah & Tatyana and grandsons, Christopher, Thomas and BJ the 3rd. Loretta had a special bond with her best friend, Gloria "Queenie B" Lucy & Janet Oneal, and leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, close friends, and extended family.
She was proceeded in death by her brothers Raphael & Ronnie Safford, and her sister Dorothy (Rick) Boulden
A service to celebrate Loretta's life will be held at Triumph Ministry, located at 17980 Celeste Road, Citronelle, Alabama, on Saturday, July 22, 2023. The wake will take place from 9am to 11am, followed by the funeral services at 12pm.
