New AlbanyBowman, Loranelle Evelyn (Flaherty),91, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. She was a talented quilt maker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and fishing. She loved being a grandma as well as spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Loranelle also enjoyed working seek-and-finds, puzzles, playing bingo and her favorite game, rummy. She was born on July 26, 1926 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Charles and Sadie (Woodward) Flaherty. Loranelle was also preceded in death by her husband, Alan J. Bowman; six sisters and two brothers. Loranelle is survived by her children, Randy Bowman, Jennifer Bowman Turner; grandchildren, Andrea Melton (Jerry), James Bowman (Sarah), Alana Turner; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, Dylan, Ian, Westley, Elizabeth, Derek; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 PM to 6 PM on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 10 AM. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
