Graveside services for Mrs. Lois Letitia Simms Bowe will be held on Saturday September 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

Mrs. Bowe, age 94 of Lebanon, TN and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024 at the American House Senior Living Center in Lebanon. She was born January 28, 1930 in Allegheny County, PA to the late Dr. Earl Sebran Simms and Agatha Albertine Borden Simms. She graduated from Schenley High School and attended several universities, including the University of Pittsburgh. She began a career as a social worker, and worked many years at Hill House Association of Pittsburgh before her retirement in the 90’s. She married the love of her life Hughes Arnold Bowe, September 16, 1961 and the couple shared many wonderful years as husband and wife. Mr. Bowe preceded her in death July 20, 2020. Mrs. Lois loved life. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and would constantly give thanks to Him for the blessings in her life. Mrs. Bowe enjoyed working with and raising her flowers, and belonged to the “Stoop and Bend Garden Club” in PA. She was actively involved in her home church and enjoyed helping in any way she could, especially during Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Lois was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Simms, Jr. 

She is survived by her children; Hughes “Hughey” Bowe, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA, Lita (Dennis) Strom of Palm Coast, FL, and Leslie Bowe of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren, Brittany Bowe of Pittsburgh, PA, Kellie Hankinson of Pittsburgh, PA, Kenneth Hankinson of Phoenix, AZ, Joshua (Ally) Strom of Nashville, TN, and Kelsey (Joshua) Callan of Gerringong, Australia.

Her family would like to give a special thanks for the loving kindness and wonderful care given to their mother during her stay at American House in Lebanon.
